Onetangi Beach is located in Onetangi Bay; Waiheke Island (located in the Hauraki Gulf) is New Zealand’s third most populated island. This immense stretch of stunning white sandy beach is two.5 kilometres (15.53 miles) making it the largest beach on Waiheke Island. Onetangi Beach is a firm favourite with locals and visitors, who come to swim, surf kayak and enjoy its relative’s safe waters.

The Onetangi Beach Race (normally held yearly in March) has been walking for over 100 years now, it is here where horse racing has attracted both mainland and local horses to compete against another. The Onetangi beach race is a charity event fun-filled day where not horses’ race but tractors and waiters compete, sand castle building is encouraged, tug of war teams compete, fashion in the field is held, and lots of stalls hold local fare and goods to tempt the hundreds of individuals who come to enjoy the friendly atmosphere.
