North Island- Accommodation and FacilitiesHeading to the beach for the summer is the only way to holiday for plenty of people whether it is down the road or half a world away, you can sand, sun & sea to make you feel relaxed & rejuvenated. In the event you are travelling to New Zealand & wondering what part of the country would be the best to spend a couple of weeks absorbing some sun, enjoying some sights & touring around some brilliant locations in a relaxed way then you would be hard pushed to discover a better location than Northland.

As the name suggests Northland is located in the northern most region of the North Island of New Zealand. It is known as the 'Winterless North' due to its low rainfall & long sunshine hours. The geography of New Zealand is long & narrow & Northland is the narrowest part, you could basically drive across the country in a few hours however in the event you select to follow the coast around you'll be exposed to some stunning views & great countryside.

Beginning your trip on the east coast you'll find yourself in Mangawhai, a quaint small seaside village filled with colonial buildings, galleries & cafes. Travelling further up the coast & through the main city that services the Northland area, Whangarei, you will arrive at Tutukaka, a widely known fishing spot & home to an annual fishing competition, it also boasts some brilliant sea views.

As you head further north around each curve of the road you will find another small cove or a bay such as Mangonui, Coopers Beach & Cable Bay & yet more brilliant views, you will no doubt see dolphins frolicking & in the event you are lucky whales.
